Who is eligible to get a booster shot?
Updated 3/22/22
Best info on who is eligible to get a booster and which boosters you are eligible for: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html
How do I decide which booster shot to get (a choice is only available to those 18+)?
In the American Council on Immunization Practices they were clear that they felt patients should discuss with their doctors the benefits and risks to getting a booster, and which booster. We aren’t medical professionals, so we defer to your doctors, the CDC, and ACIP. To prepare for a conversation the resources below may be helpful.
There is a preprint of an NIH study on mixing and matching vaccines. Please note that this study was done with a full dose Moderna booster, not the half dose Moderna booster (which is all that is available).
- This is the NIH study preprint. It is a peer reviewed study.
- This article from LiveScience discusses the NIH study
- This article from the “Friendly Epidemiologist” also discusses the NIH study
Something else that was discussed in the ACIP meeting about J&J boosters was the very small but real risks of Guillain-Barre Syndrome from J&J. This comes from an Israeli study.
I am immunocompromised. How many doses of the vaccine and booster are recommended?
You can find the recommendations for immunocompromised individuals on this page of the CDC website.
Where are ALLLL the places I might look for a vaccine beyond the state public vaccine sites?
I am allergic to all the vaccines or I built no antibodies from the vaccine, how can I find doses of Evushield?
If you qualify for Evushield, you can track down doses using this database and call locations listed to try to find a dose for yourself.
What does the covid vaccine cost?
The covid vaccine is free. Businesses can charge a fee to your insurance for the administration of the vaccine, but if you do not have insurance or have not met your deductible, you cannot be charged. This is true of booster doses as well as the initial series. This Health and Human Services document describes how it works.
I know someone with disabilities that needs assistance in order to be vaccinated.
The Metropolitan Center for Independent Living is working with the State to ensure people with disabilities in Minnesota have access to the Minnesota COVID-19 Vaccine Connector and other COVID-19 information specific to their communities, including in multiple languages. They can provide a PPE care package, they are also able to help with information and transportation to a vaccine or covid test.
I have friends without internet, how can they get an appointment?
These days, many places you can just walk-in without an appointment, particular at local pharmacies.
They can call 833-431-2053 to be registered over the phone in the Vaccine Connector at a state location.
I’m struggling with technology to make an appointment.

- Request help through our website: https://mnvaccinehunters.com/help/
- Walk-ins are now available at most local pharmacies
- Where we have phone numbers to make an appointment, those are noted in the information on the page for that health system or pharmacy.
I still have questions.
The State of Minnesota has a great vaccine hotline that answers questions. Depending on what your question is related to, there are different numbers.
The State also maintains a list of all vaccine locations.
